How did you become passionate about marketing?
To me, marketing is a perfect blend of the left brain and the right brain, the analytical and the creative. It’s a discipline that allows for out-of-the-box thinking while measuring the data to determine the success of a campaign or program. I knew I wanted to flex my creative muscles in my career, but I also needed tangible facts to support how my creatives performed. In the field of marketing, I was fortunate to find both.

Why did you join Inflection?
It was obvious from the very first interview I had that Inflection was the type of company in which every individual makes a big contribution. I wanted to be surrounded with inspiring, ambitious, smart, hard-working, and humble colleagues who wanted to make an impact with their work. Personally, Inflection allowed me to build an email marketing program and team from the ground up. It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
One piece of advice that I try to remember and live by is to always have a point of view. If I come up against a problem or have an idea, I should take the time to think through it and come to terms with a stance that I should be able to defend. Having a point of view forces me to think through the situation from multiple angles in order to come up with a recommended position.

How do you promote professional development with your team members?
I like to promote professional development in my team by always asking them “what’s next?” What is the next thing they want to do? Want to learn? Want to accomplish? Asking my team to reflect on what they enjoy in their roles oftentimes leads to the answer of the “what’s next” question. Together, we’ll then work on a plan to get them to the “next.”
